Preparing to Serve, Ready to Teach

My niece recently got her first job helping a national chain open a local fast food location. For 2 weeks she received training so that she could be competent serving fast food.

In our churches many are “serving” children “the milk of the Good News” without having had any training. Which is more important?!

On August 16th we hosted our annual Back2School Children’s Ministry Conference. It was a thrill and a joy to see almost 500 children’s workers come together for instruction, inspiration, networking, and fellowship. Thirty talented presenters shared what they had learned from experience and 12 local organizations were represented through display/vendor tables. Some of the general comments were: “Powerful,” “Excellent speakers,” “Helpful,” “Wonderful morning!”

Last year those trained were able to lead over 500 children to a saving knowledge of Jesus in addition to helping hundreds more grow in their walk with the Lord. I can’t wait to see what the Lord will do this year through these dedicated volunteers.

As Good News Clubs start up this month, please be praying that God’s people will share the Good News clearly and children will understand and believe the truth from God’s Word.
